....and now for something completely different!

In the past few weeks I have been busy buying for the next run of fairs. These large wooden spools from France have been selling well, and they look great displayed on some of my Antique and recycled Indian painted furniture.

Yesterday we restocked the Dairy House with this Indian cupboard with wire mesh doors (perfect for the kitchen). We also took some Indian gates and other pieces of carved wood items (below).

The wood and metal work well alongside gorgeous old French grainsacks....

This coming Saturday I am selling at a new fair in Ilminster at the Meeting House . I will be taking along a selection of French Linen sheets, Eastern European Mangle cloths, buttons, wooden cotton spools and a selection of these beauties (below)....

Carved Antique wooden items from India. They look wonderful alongside the linen sheets and other stock.

Most of them have been adapted so that they can by hung on the wall or used as candle sconces.

I adore the layers of chipped old paint, some of them would have adorned buildings for hundreds of years.

The following weekend I will be having my usual stall at The Vintage and Handmade Fair in Chipping Sodbury, if there is room in the van I might bring along a few Vintage Indian items to ring the changes to my stand. What do you think?

Lovely items Lizzie, I particularly love the cupboard with the wire mesh doors and those grain sacks are right up my alley. See you on the 4th. Enjoy your week.

morning...I just loved this stock so much I had to tweet it! Its a long term plan to move south in the next year but even if I wasn't before I might have decided to just to be within easy distance of your fairs!

Very different but I really like the look....big pieces are so dramatic. Love the little green cupboard too.
Good luck with your forthcoming Fairs and yes, take some pieces with you!

I love Indian carved wood. We have a few similar pieces in our living room. Going to try to get to Ilminster on Saturday. Hope you have a good day.

I just adore these- the flakier the better!

I can't imagine anyone not loving chippy paint, although I appreciate we can't all like the same things.

I bought some incredibly shabby painted mahogany Stockman hatstands once in France; genuinely aged cream and grey paint, and each stand around 3 ft high- in my mind they were works of art.

A posh clothes shop opening in Bournemouth bought them all and had them dip-stripped and polished- the man explained he simply wanted them to "look like new".
I could've wept

Good luck with the new fair- your stand always looks lovely

Hi Lizzie,
All looking gorgeous and rustic here! :)
Shall have to try and get over to DH again soon.
Does that say 'teas provided by Miss Chivers' on your fab new blog banner? I think someone we know should have a copy of that! :)

Have a lovely weekend - Good luck at the fairs,

Hello Lizzie.. and Niki too..
Yes indeed .. this Mrs Chivers is tickled pink to see that sign. I would love a similar to put outside our home if the urge to serve teas ever grabs me. Would I have to wear a similar yoke contraption I wonder.. Not really my style.
Beautiful array of goods as always Lizzie.. Look forward to seeing you and them next weekend.
