New Year Resolutions...getting the brushes out!

A Happy New Year to everyone! I have been reading other blogs and see that there are many good intentions and New Year Resolutions being aired! I started this week with a frenzy of sorting, tidying and decorating.

A long overdue project is shown here. I treated myself to a pot of Farrow and Ball cream emulsion for the walls. The tricky bit was painting up to the 1930's paper floral border which I wanted to keep.

After 2 days of painting I had the fun part of putting everything back into the room, freshly dusted and polished. I have changed the curtains (you can just see a glimpse above) to a vintage linen pair of floral design on a black background.

Pictures have been moved and changed around with a definite floral and garden theme dominating (oops, sorry about the reflection!)

In between waiting for layers of paint to dry I have been organising a Textile event due to take place on Saturday March 3rd in the Trull Memorial Hall. This has come about from the comments of local friends asking for something to take place in Taunton (our local town).  Details can be seen here on The Vintage Bazaar Blog. It should be a fun event with 20 stalls piled high with Textiles, Linens, trimmings, buttons & bits. Admission is 50p. Hope to see you there!?

Happy New Year Lizzie!
All looks very lovely and clean and fresh. Wish my house was starting the year looking so decorated. Am going to have to open the paint sooner rather than later I think.

I'm not surprised you wanted to keep the floral border - it's so pretty! The room looks lovely - it's nice to move bits and pieces around as it feels new then, without all the expense!

Well done Lizzie - The decorating work looks fabulous...worth all those hours of filling in around tiny window-panes! LOVE the dramatic curtains - fabulous. Enjoy your new room - I bet you keep popping back throughout the day just to have a look! ;-))

Happy New Year Lizzie. Your room looks lovely, I love F&B paint, you can't beat it. I love placing everything back in a newly decorated room. Forgot to tell you that I love my cast iron cherub hubby bought from you at Frome for me for Christmas. Apparently other stall holders had been sworn to secrecy as he went round making secret purchases for me...he's well trained!!

Thank you! More lovely comments! Yes, the border was very fiddly.. as were those windows.. groan. Thank you Liz, I have been collecting embroidered pictures for a few years now. They were dotted around the house, but look so much better together. xx
