Happy Birthday to me!

A sunny day on September 11th in the mid 60's, does anyone remember that strange tradition of having the jelly & ice cream as a first course at Birthday parties?
Here I am with my little brother, Alison, Gilly S, Gilly T, Linda, Shirley, Lisa and the mystery girl in the foreground with the scary fringe. I have wracked my brain to remember who she is, so if you are that person do get in touch! It is not like me to forget names or faces, but she has me foxed!
There is a clue as to my Birthday pressie that year.. a gorgeous blue easel can be seen in the background, possibly by Triang?

  1. Happy Birthday to you indeed! That is a wonderful photo. It is not me with the scary fringe but it could well have been. My mother was always pretty scary hacking away at my poor hair. xx

Have a wonderful day (DON'T work too hard!!) - and enjoy your weekend.
We always had to wait for our jelly and ice-cream, usually served with iced gems and those biscuits with the hard, colourful icing, containing a huge array of E numbers!!

  5. Happy Birthday to us Lizzie!
I love your birthday party picture especially because I seem to remember dull or rainy weather for my birthdays when younger and sunny ones more recently and attributed it to climate change!Although I have been celebrating birthdays for rather longer than you...
BTW - thanks for your very sweet email. Don't know why my blog has no comment box. No wonder I'm not receiving any :)

  11. Glad I read the comments - I wondered if that was you in the groovy frock. I guessed you must be the birthday girl, as you're the happiest-looking one there. The others look like they've just been told the school hamster died...
    Kids, huh?
Hope today has been just as happy, with a cake as yummy as the one in that photo!

  12. A belated Happy Birthday to you. There are a lot of short fringes on the girls here, I expect they were specially cut for the party. Hope you did some partying this year too.

  15. Just wanted to drop you a bit on an usual "happy birthday" (belated) greeting! We came here via Cowboys and Custard, who we met as a result of the foxy wheelie that is now a part of that family. How often can you claim an A Merry Can birthday wish from TwoSpecialWires?

    Cheers,
    Jake and Fergi xxoo
